Here is where it all started.

The Little Drummer Boy

The beginning was being LJ in the Little Drummer boy. I remember auditioning in our little church in the Ghetto of Albuquerque. I remember being told I didn’t get the part. I didn’t care, I just wanted to help in some way. I was nervous to act, to be in-front of people, I remember having the biggest crush on this girl names Sadie and not wanting her to go to the performance. She went… Talk about butterflies man.

Thank you:

Erica Hinojosa, thank you for seeing in my life something worth investing into from the beginning. You called me up more times then I could think, You gave me encouragement and I can’t thank you enough for that. You have been a pillar of constance throughout our lives. Your love and kindness never stops.

I started as a young punk who steals from another foster child. This was the most fun I had. The idea of becoming another character. I was really timid as a child so having an opportunity to be a brash and angry kid was exciting.

Thank you:

My Mother for being the kindest and most encouraging. Joshua Sallach for letting me be a little Pissant. The Trejos for always being so giving.

This is kinda crazy, My family was on this show. My Mom and Dad are heroes of mine for their love and fight for loving people. I remember my father being beaten up by some thugs. They sent him to the hospital. I was looking out the window and saw him running and then five guys chasing him with large sticks, wooden clubs, and bars. After returning from the hospital he went to their house and brought them pizza. Not long after they they began to call my Dad Papa Gerald. He’s my hero.

Thank you:

Ty Pennington, Matt Fisher, the rest of the crew, all of Albuquerque for taking my me and my family in. All of America for sharing such love on us after the show aired. Thank you to the man who drove across the country to give my Dad a truck and the other man who flew to ABQ to give him a statue and the rest of the people who continue to show my family and my mother love. I remember trying to sleep after the show, confused and not quite sure why we deserved it, I still wonder but I can’t question the blessings that follow, I can just continue to learn how to give.

This project changed my life. I was involved in Le Parquer and gymnastics when I was a kid. We trained for weeks and I learned how to do a back flip as well as several other acrobatic things on this film. I also had a chance to play a large role on a film. I remember sitting and eating crafty on the back of a car realizing that I don’t know if I could do anything else with my life. found it. Stories.

Thank you:

Again, thank you Joshua Sallach for the opportunity to work on this. Thank you to the rest of the crew, I remember one night Carlos Montoya AKA Hook was driving me back home and I always had a habit of asking advice. He peered down at me and said. My advice is to never be the first one to break eye contact. I take that advice to this day, Only in moderation of course. :)

Fifty people all circled around as we prepare for this shot. I luckily booked this with one of my friends from my first acting class, Daniel Pattison. I was helping my friend do some work and I almost didn’t show up to the audition. I was at my friends house editing and remember him asking me why I was there. I calmly looked confused, saying “ I have to edit” He told me to get my butt out of there and get to my real job. I’ve never even second guessed going to an audition since then.

Thank you:

Thank you to Kiira Aria for casting me. Thank you to TJ Scott and the producers for choosing me. Thank you to Lora Cunningham for rooting me on and getting me with my amazing Agent. Thank you Lynette O’Conner for fighting for my success and continuing to do so. Thank you to Daniel for driving me to set and being my scene partner.

The second larger project I booked, I have to say I learned a lot here. I for a long time was quiet and didn’t talk much. After being on this set and working with some greats like Nick Nolte and Skyler Astin I learned to let go more and enjoy. I learned that I belong.

Thank you:

Thank you to Lynette again for fighting for me, Lora for teaching me. Skylar and Mr. Nolte for being role models of professionals. Thank you to the producers and the crew for all being encouraging.

I had an amazing time learning on this project. I remember speaking with Max about his process. He is such a solid man and a great leader. When we were shooting our scene we both would run back and forth from the monitor to the screen to make sure our performances were correct. It was a blast.

Thank you:

I appreciate every last one of these guys. Thank Delany Marsh for being a solid man and strong voice. I thank Max Martini for showing me a little bit of the ropes of this industry. I thank the drivers for always being encouraging and telling me I can make it.

This Project changed my life and taught me what it looks like to be a professional on so many levels. I learned how to actually act and bring a character to the screen with depth no matter how small or large. I learned that I have authority and can effect the world.

Thank you:

I want to thank a thousand times, Jordan Horowitz and Julia Hart for their words of kindness and guidance. Gugu M’Batha Raw for being sweet and gentle but also fierce. David Strathairn for giving me advice and guidance and the rest of the team for being absolutely amazing. I couldn't ask for a more inspiring and kind team.

Another one from Joshua Sallach except this one has blood and swords and a lot more tricks. You wouldn’t believe this but there was a whirl wind half way through this set and there was the most gorgeous sunset you could ever see on the last day. This project is a testimony of Joshua Sallach ability to craft a story that can transcend the young and old.

Thank you:

Thank You Joshua Sallach for being a radical human who is always one step ahead of me. Thanks for being a brother and a friend. Thank you to Benny and David for being amazing talent as well as Austin, Logan and the rest of the hooligans. I had a blast on this project and I can’t wait for the next one.

My Happiness:

I was living out of my car, in Redondo, California studying theatre at Encore. I didn’t have enough money to drive back to my friends house in LA so I would sleep outside the beach, jump in the ocean and then rinse off and go to rehearsals. While relearning a backflip at a park, I saw a casting call for Elvis by Baz Lurhman and knew it was right. I had nothing to lose and I jumped. I trained, practiced, and found a crew of people to help me shoot a proof of concept for Elvis. We shot it in one day, wrote it, directed it, edited it and finalized everything in a week and submitted it. Regardless of what happens with that, I realized that my career is in my hands and my creative contribution is enough. If you’ve made it this far in my story, I thank you and know I can’t achieve anything without the love and support of people like you.

Thank you:

First, thank you to all the people at Redondo Encore for believing in me, calling me out as a leader again. Thank you Summer for welcoming me into your house on thanks giving. Thank you G for being so cool and showing me how many djembe’s can fit in your Mercedes. Thank you every actor for welcoming me into your world and treating me with love. I hope the rest of rehearsals and the shows went well. I wish I could have made it to the shows. Thank you for Naomi for welcoming me into your community and helping me build a team that created this proof, thank you Ben Stevenson for being patient and teaching me and being my friend. Thank you Daniel Dubats. I can’t thank you all enough. Thanks to Valentine Records for letting us touch the space that so many other legends have touched. I want to cry sometimes when I think about all that have believed in me.
